Job Summary: As a Senior College Admissions Consultant and Operations Lead at Tokyo Academics, you will play a dual role as both a senior advisor to students and families and a key operational leader within the college admissions consulting division. You will serve as a knowledge expert in the admissions consulting team, guiding students through complex academic and extracurricular decisions while also ensuring that the division operates with precision and consistency. In addition, you will be a primary point of contact for existing clients, helping maintain strong relationships and ensuring an exceptional client experience. Typically, this person will be working at the Tokyo Academics office in Nishiazabu, within our regular business hours (10 AM – 7 PM Japan Standard Time). The position may be part-time or full-time, depending on candidate preference. *Relocation support and visa sponsorship available! What you will work on: College Admissions Consulting Your primary responsibility as a College Admissions Consultant will be to work with students in a 1-on-1 format to help them make decisions around their current high school trajectory and future college options. You will be providing guidance and advice on a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to): -High School Course Selection -Extracurricular Activities/Independent Projects -Building a College List -Identifying potential passions/majors/career interest -Admission essay guidance Given the wide range of student/family situations that potentially arise, successful hires will undergo in-depth training to gain a better understanding of Japan’s high schools, as well as Tokyo Academics’ college counseling process. Client Management You will play a central role in maintaining strong relationships with existing families and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction. Responsibilities include: -Acting as a trusted advisor to students and parents throughout the admissions process -Managing high-stakes conversations with families navigating competitive admissions environments -Proactively addressing concerns and guiding clients through moments of uncertainty or stress -Continuously improving the overall client experience and satisfaction across the division Operations Leadership The goal of this role is to help the admissions consulting team operate with greater clarity, reliability, and efficiency during high-pressure application cycles. -Owning and managing the division-wide application calendar, ensuring that all deadlines, recommendation letters, and submission requirements are tracked and completed on time -Creating systems that reduce last-minute deadline stress and improve operational efficiency -Implementing standardized workflow tools to streamline collaboration across consultants -Documenting processes and building clear internal playbooks for the admissions consulting team -Establishing quality-control checkpoints to ensure application materials meet the highest standards -Supporting consultants by improving operational infrastructure and increasing team capacity Our ideal candidate: -Has graduated from a top tier U.S. or U.K. University -Is very interested in working and living in Japan -Has a track record of achievement in school academics and standardized testing -Preferably has at least 2 years of college/admissions counseling experience in US admissions, with demonstrated success in helping students receive offers to top schools. -Is passionate about mentorship, about engaging with students beyond their academics and playing a critical role in their success and character growth -Has strong communication and collaboration skills, and can thrive in a start-up environment.
